SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

We provide shockwave therapy using MP50 shockwave machine, a state-of-the-art treatment that offers many patients an effective, non-invasive solution for both chronic and acute musculoskeletal pain in the muscles, tendons, and joints. Despite the name, there are no electrical shocks involved in shockwave therapy—instead, high-energy acoustic waves are sent through your tissue.

These pulses—also known as acoustic compression or percussion—travel to the affected area and cause scar tissue, tenocytes, fibroblasts, osteocytes, chondrocytes, and endothelial cells to break down. An inflammatory response is provoked, which stimulates your body’s natural healing process. With shockwave therapy, we can target tissues at varying depths by compressing and manipulating the affected area. The effect is much like a focused, precise deep tissue massage.

Although extracorporeal shockwave therapy is relatively new in the United States, it has been used successfully in Europe for nearly three decades for patients with tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, receptive stress injuries, back pain, neck pain, and more.
